DAP’s Founders
John Gergely holds a PhD in Physics with a specialization in numerical simulations and high-performance computing. In his career in NYC government, he has been an indispensable contributor to several high-profile emergency services projects and rapid-rollout technology initiatives. John leads by doing, equally capable as a one-person dev shop or leading a team of engineers as an enterprise architect. John has designed and built end-to-end data systems and web applications, accomplished forensic analysis and data migration challenges that were deemed intractable, and served as a trusted technical advisor and data scientist to program executives.
Marcus Angeron is an experienced Technical Project Manager with a proven track record leading high-stakes projects in government and private sectors. Leveraging a comprehensive and diverse background, Marcus thrives on tackling challenges from multiple angles to find an innovative solution. DAP’s Value Proposition
Data Action Partners brings a data-first point of view to our project engagements: we know that value to the business is created (or lost) in data.
DAP’s expert data practice is grounded in years of in-the-weeds technical leadership. We work directly with executives to triage critical business needs and deliver solutions to acute problems. DAP’s founders are fluent cross-functional technologists deeply attuned to operational efficiency and executives’ pain points. We possess the technical depth and versatility to fill gaps in capacity and lead engineering and developer teams. This posture ensures nothing is lost in translation and implementation details are strategic and aligned with business needs.
When DAP engages a project, we 1.) quickly adapt to resource constraints, 2.) triage mission-critical needs, and 3.) look to make an immediate impact. Our iterative approach creates opportunities to deliver useful tools and proof-of-concept solutions in the immediate term. Iteration also sets us up for longer-term success, allowing us to field-test prototypes and put real data in front of decision makers.
On enterprise-scale projects, we are force multipliers, acting as highly engaged technical project managers and architects. We maintain holistic project vision and strategy while keeping technical teams aligned with and accountable to the core value proposition for the business.
DAP has expertise working on rapid rollout of government service delivery initiatives, where project timelines are very aggressive and resource constraints are often severe. DAP designs for adaptability and extensibility, because business requirements are often not fully articulated at the start of development. Our process anticipates and supports legal and policy changes that may cause major shifts in scope and functional requirements. We take pride in our proven track record of leading schema-breaking high-stakes data migrations and refactoring efforts.
